HCS Hosts HOCUS Hot Heritage Issues Lecture

The Heritage Conservation Society (HCS) together with the National Museum (NM), last May 15, 2017, hosted the first HOCUS Lecture entitled Hot Heritage Issues.

Held at the Osmena Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts, the lecture focused on the thought-provoking issues afflicting heritage today.

Among the speakers were:

LArcht. Paulo Alcazaren, Principal Architect of PGAA Creative Design Manila and one of the Founding Trustees of HCS who discussed the District of Harisson in the city of Manila, which covers the Rizal Memorial Stadium and the Manila Zoo.

Ivan Man Dy of Old Manila Walks and currently the Vice president for Internal Affairs and Treasurer of HCS who discussed the Basics of Art Deco and its connection to the Rizal Memorial Stadium in his talk entitled "Deco Decoded: Introducing Manila's Art Deco Heritage".

Kara Garilao, Community-Based Heritage Tourism Program Director of Fundacion Santiago and HCS Board of Advisers member who narrated the importance of community engagement for heritage on her talk entitled "Whose story is it anyway? Interpreting Local Heritage".

HOCUS Lectures is a series of talks in conjunction with the “Hocus: The Hofileña & Custodio Paintings”, an exhibit curated by the Society’s Chairperson-Emerita, Ms. Gemma Cruz-Araneta.

The exhibit will run from April 18, 2017 to October 29, 2017.
